We ♥ our new addition to Materialise - we present you the talented Kate Millibank - Kate has a degree in fashion design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, and over 15 years experience of sewing and dressmaking. She's worked as a designer in London and Paris, and now runs her own design business specialising in made to measure day and evening wear.Kate will be teaching a variety of sewing, dressmaking and pattern cutting courses, plus running monthly Sewing Surgeries.

Cushions
These beginner workshops are all about learning sewing machine skills and mastering some sewing basics.
We'll teach you:
- the basics of a sewing machine
- how to wind a bobbin and thread the machine
- how to cut and pin fabric
- how to sew seams
Et voila! You'll make your very own cushion or shopper bag to take home.
All sewing materials provided and fabric supplied for the shopper bag. You can bring your own choice of cushion fabric to match your home or purchase from our range of fabrics on the day for an additional £5. Drinks and cake included.

We offer a variety of purse and bag workshops, which are all suitable for beginners and those of you with a bit of sewing savvy. Mairi Brunning joins us to show you how to create a unique fascinator - a great opportunity to let your imagination run wild and and experiment with some frivolous styling. Ooh la la.
These are really popular, simple and fun workshops - ideal for a hen party or sewing get together.
We also run workshops to make a scarf, using the overlocker machines. Beware though, spaces are limited in order to provide one-to-one tuition with the machines.
